A black soul gem can only be filled by the soul of a living human, or a creature with a Grand soul, such as a Mammoth (thanks to tjd for pointing this out!). If you'd rather go down the creature route, there's a discussion here about which ones have grand souls. First, aim at your target and cast the Soul Trap spell - it fires like an arrow Soul Cairn fills white because the souls aren't corrupt the method of use was corrupt because it sends them to the Soul Cairn, filling from the Cairn a black or white is either neutral for black gems, as the go back to the cairn, or positive for the white gems as they are released back to Skyrim. Enchant your weapon with a 1 second soul trap spell. Do not use firey soul trap, the DOT from the fire damage will not proc the soul trap if it kills them after the first second. With one grand soul gem, you can enchant your weapon with 1800+ charages of 1 second soul trap. Every arrow, swing, etc kill will be a instant soul trap for you.
It is also possible to get black soul gems from Gulum-Ei at the end of "Scoundrel's Folly," a Thieves Guild quest. The Dragonborn is given three random soul gems as a reward, any of which could be a black soul gem. There may be a filled black soul gem in a chest in Serpent's Bluff Redoubt. There may be a filled one at the end of Shroud Hearth
About this mod. Your Soul Is Mine is like Dragon Soul Relinquishment for regular souls. It adds two spells: one that allows the player to absorb soul gems to purchase various passive bonuses and one that allows the player to absorb part of the victim's soul directly.
