The Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro is a solid pair of headphones that provide amazing audio and come at an affordable price. Many users have attested to their versatility and excellent sound reproduction. But in the aspect of comfort, reviews are mixed, with more users claiming that the headphones can be quite uncomfortable after long hours of use.
For 990's, the 250 ohm model seems to be most common; the 600 ohm model supposedly sounds the best due to the larger voice coil (or so the internet likes to say) and may or may not have a bit less treble; you can also find an 80 ohm model, 32 ohm, and occasionally a 16 ohm.
The 990 was one of them. Being aware of their distinct sound signature and fairly polarizing reputation in some senses, I didn’t pull the trigger on them in late 2018. Fast forward several months plus wanting to have a pair of headphones to complement my HD 600 and 650s, the 990s came up once again.
